Evening of Elegance at the Marketplace Design Center

On Wednesday, September 27, 2006 the Breast Health International, Marketplace Design Center and Philadelphia Magazine's Home & Garden hosted an Evening of Elegance to benefit the Foundation for Breast and Prostrate Health. The evening was spectacular - the area's most prestigious interior and floral designers created unparalleled rooms and table settings complimented by delightful menus prepared by the Delaware Valley's finest caterers and pastry chefs.

The following day, there was a Day of Elegance featuring keynote address with Emily McManus, editor of Philadelphia Magazine's Home & Garden, as well as continued viewing of designer's vignettes. For the first time 2400 on sale was also a successful addition to the festivities.

Give the Shirt
off your back!

Since 1995, Breast Health International has aided activities in our home community, the Philadelphia area, through a partnership with Fashion Group International Philadelphia. Together, BHI and FGI sponsored the Give the Shirt Off Your Back! Fight Breast Cancer gala dinner-dance, which has truly become the centerpiece of the Breast Health Internatioal's breast cancer awareness month activities. The 13th Anniversary gala will be held on Friday, September 28, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency at Penn's Landing.

This year's honoree is Philadelphia's own Gary Papa, Sports Director, 6ABC. Mr. Papa is recognized not only for his years of generosity to the Breast Health Institute, but also for his numerous other philanthropic endeavors and contributions to the Philadelphia community.

The proceeds from our galas fund one of our most significant endeavors, the Breast Health International's Consensus Conferences. Our sixth International Consensus Conference was held in the spring of 2007. Once again, we brought together the best minds throughout the world to debate the subject and again offer guidelines with respect to diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.

Hundreds Crowd Love Park for Event

The Big Hang Up
Once again, the Breast Health International had a wonderful 4th "Big Hang Up" in LOVE Park on October 3, 2006. We are geared up to do it all again on October 2, 2007. This year, we will on display at the Liberty Place Rotunda from Sept. 24, 2007.

Perhaps the most visual event in October, LOVE Park was converted from a park into a center for recognition and remembrance. Hundreds of individuals and company t-shirts are hung on clotheslines to honor breast cancer survivors and the memory of those who have been lost to the disease. While BHI focuses on raising funds to support scientific advances and research in the fight against breast cancer, education and promoting awareness are also a vital part of our mission.

The event was sponsored by the City of Philadelphia, Channel 6 and the Breast Health International.

Beat Prostate Cancer

Fathers' Day Run
On Father's Day, June 17th, 2007, the Foundation for Breast and Prostate Health and the Breast Health Institute hosted the 5th annual Father's Day Run for Your Life... Beat Prostate Cancer.

The event this year was a tremendous success! Run for Your Life 2007 brought together survivors, families, medical practitioners and runners—all in the spirit of combating prostate cancer. We are proud that the number of participants increased two-fold from our inaugural year, 2003. All proceeds will go to much needed research and education.

The Foundation for Breast and Prostate Health and the Prostate Health International would like to thank our sponsors, contributors, and participants for contributing to the success of Run for Your Life 2007. Mark your calendars for Father’s Day next year, June 15, 2008 for the 6th annual Run for Your Life!

This year 230,000 men—1 out of 6!—will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and 30,000 will die…perhaps a man who touched your life, someone you loved, cared about or knew.

Since 1990, the Breast Health International has sponsored many successful events which benefited the women of the Delaware Valley and women everywhere through breast cancer research. Now, recognizing that prostate cancer is in many ways an analogous disease affecting men, BHI has formed the Foundation for Breast & Prostate Health so we can address the problems associated with prostate disease.
