Tommy Hilfiger and Helena Christensen Launch a Limited Edition Bag to Benefit The Breast Health International

Tommy Hilfiger announces the third in a series of Limited Edition bags to benefit the Breast Health International, a globally renowned organisation committed to finding a cure for breast cancer. This year, Danish supermodel and photographer Helena Christensen, has been chosen as an ambassador of the initiative that will roll out to a select number of stores in Europe as of 1April 2009.

"I am proud to continue our partnership with the Breast Health International through a special initiative that's in its third year running," said Tommy Hilfiger. "This Limited Edition bag symbolises our commitment to the foundation, and with Helena Christensen, we hope to raise awareness and reduce the effects of breast cancer."

"I am honored to be chosen as ambassador of such a worthy cause and initiative," said Helena Christensen. "Breast cancer affects women of all ages worldwide, and I commend the Breast Health International and Tommy Hilfiger for stepping up to the mark, to find a cure for this disease."

Retailing at £279, 50% of the proceeds from the newly designed bag will go to ‘Fund for Living' - an on-going global campaign initiated by Breast Health International to support those diagnosed with breast cancer. The program helps fund small but essential needs not usually covered by health insurance that assist those fighting breast cancer to get back to their normal lives without financial restraints.

Previously, Italian actresses Claudia Gerini and Cristiana Capotondi, have supported the initiative that raised an incredible 20,000 Euros for Breast Health International. Last year, Tommy Hilfiger also teamed up with Carla Bruni - France's first lady - for the promotion of a tote bag, which raised an amazing 73,000 Euros, next to an additional 40,000 Euros that was raised through a charity auction event at Tommy Hilfiger's Flagship store on the Rue St. Honoré.

Fund For Living

BHI has embarked on a campaign to support those diagnosed with breast cancer through its Fund For Living. This project was developed to provide assistance to women with breast cancer and their families to cover unique problems that may not be addressed or covered by the usual health insurance programs, such as National Health Insurances in the European countries. It is particularly aimed at women with low economic possibilities who might have difficulties reaching the hospital, might need a wig, or someone to help them with an ill relation or their children in order to give them the time off required to go to the hospital.

The Fund For Living is available in selected major cities in Europe and the USA.
